See you this Friday in Oakland

This Friday, I am performing a low-tech version of my solo Viewing Pleasure at Beauty Supply Arts in downtown Oakland!

Viewing Pleasure premiered in March at CounterPulse. It's a solo performance made up of text, movement, feather boas, and lots of funny faces, all enhanced by the sound design of total genius Jules Litman-Cleper. I tried to make a solo that works with the weirdness of solos: being alone on stage, walking the fine line between being witnessed (I feel so seen) and being consumed (I feel like an object). Assisting me in this tightrope walk is a whole litany of chicken and egg metaphors which open up toward broader experiments in subjectivity and perception. I won't tell you which came first, or why the chicken crossed the road, but I will shimmy and shake for you.

If you missed Viewing Pleasure at CounterPulse in March, don't make the same mistake twice! And even if you caught the show already, this version will be its own pared-down, low-tech experience (think MTV Unplugged ... but like, for experimental dance).

Hope to see you this Friday – email me at miss.silk.worm@gmail.com or DM me on Instagram to get the address and access info for the space.

xoxo
